Job Description
The Marketing & Communications Officer will report to CEO and work closely with the Foundation’s management team and the Hospital’s PR team to raise awareness and support for the expansion ofMarkhamStouffvilleHospital. This person will play a key role in managing and implementing the Foundation’s marketing plans in support of the Community Wide Campaign.
Key Results Areas
In pursuit of activities with the highest positive impact on the success of the Foundation’s overall objectives and the accomplishment of key priorities, the Officer will:
Work collaboratively with the management team to identify, execute and support the Foundation’s marketing and communications needs, including direct marketing, donor relations, planned giving and corporate sponsorship and special event programs;
Provide input to the ongoing community wide campaign strategies;
Manage a timeline that integrates all of the Foundation’s marketing and communications needs in partnership with the Hospital to ensure strategic and maximum exposure in the community;
In partnership with the Foundation’s management team and Hospital’s Director of PR, continue to develop and implement the necessary marketing tools and key messages to ensure the Markham Stouffville Hospital brand is reinforced and evaluated on an ongoing basis, including advertising, print and electronic newsletters, fundraising and event materials;
Work with the Hospital and Foundation leaders to develop a social media strategy that supports the Foundation’s ongoing fundraising and awareness raising needs;
Develop an accurate statistics based method/tracking process for evaluating the effectiveness of marketing and PR initiatives;
Coordinate media relations, including drafting advisories and press releases, briefing notes for Foundation spokesperson as needed, and organize media launches and conferences;
Manage multiple vendor relationships for marketing materials, including video productions and print publications;
Serve as the Foundation’s primary contact for editorial control and manage the consent and approval process for all marketing and communications materials;
Coordinate Foundation website redevelopment in partnership with the web vendor, including web content development;
Suggest new initiatives and contribute to other projects/duties as required;
BE a proactive, committed member of the team;
Work collaboratively with the Hospital to ensure Campaign, fund raising and PR objectives are consistent.
Required Skills
University / College Diploma;
Minimum 3 years experience in marketing and communications;
Ability to execute large scale integrated marketing programs independently;
Excellent ability to manage a diverse range of projects and needs of multiple stakeholders with high efficiency and superior attention to detail;
Well-developed writing, research and editing skills;
Demonstrated flexibility, creativity and a self-starter with strong motivation to take on new initiatives;
Resourceful and independent, yet comfortable working within a team environment.
Solid communication and interpersonal skills with strong customer service orientation;
Sound judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality;
Experience in the not for profit sector and health care is an asset
Proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop and Adobe Professional will be considered an asset
Demonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard
Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required.
