Phil Bannon

I have been married to my wife Janice for 38 years. We have two daughters, Denise and Ashlea, two son-in laws Arek and James and our grand son Braydon.

Janice has operated a very successful small business ( Missing Pieces ) in town for the past four years.

I was first elected to Council in 2003. When elected, I was still a member of the Toronto Police Service. I retired in 2004, as a Detective Sergeant, after completing 32 1/2 years of service.

For the past 11 years, I have been your full time Councillor in Ward #2, active volunteer and community leader.

I have worked hard to :

  • Bring our Community together
  • Providing effective representation for my constituents
  • Providing a strong voice of reason and common sense to Council

I have led the charge organizing charity and fund raising events which have:

  • Attracted thousands of residents over the past 11 years
  • Raised over $ 147,000.00
  • All of that money has been donated to local charities including, Parkview Seniors Village building fund, Southlake Regional Health Centre, Markham Stouffville Hospital, Evergreen Hospice, York-Durham Aphasia, Specialty Care Bloomington Cove and Ballantrae Scouting Group.

I have played a lead role, protecting the environment by:

  • Introducing a Stewardship Plan for Musselmans Lake
  • Dedication of over 200 acres of prestene conservation land to the Lake Simcoe Regional Conservation Authority
  • Planned development of a 4.5 acre community park
  • Restoration of the former Lee Sand & Gravel Pit

As your Mayor, I will Champion the construction of:

  • A New Seniors Centre
  • A New Library
  • A New Art Gallery ( at no additional cost to the taxpayer)
  • A New Multi Cultural Centre ( at no additional cost to the taxpayer)
  • And New Leisure Facilities, featuring programs for our families and youth

As your Mayor, there will be a re-newed focus and investment in:

  • Infrastructure, ( Roads, Sidewalks, Curbs)
  • Transit
  • Public Safety
  • Protecting the Oak Ridges Moraine from development
  • Walking and Bike paths

My Goals are clear:

  • Improve our local services
  • Strengthen our local economy
  • Respect tax payers dollars

I am committed to building a better future for our families and friends.

A community that is:

  • Safe
  • Offers a better quality of life
  • Cares about our seniors and youth

On Oct. 27th, I am ready to provide the steady, experienced, fulltime leadership that we need.
