Cycling for Cancer Support
April 15, 2013
On April 26th students and faculty of Stouffville District Secondary School (SDSS) will be welcoming participants and supporters of The Inside Ride.
Canada's First indoor cycling challenge and fundraising event, The Inside Ride is dedicated to raising money in support of families and children with cancer. The event is organized by the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation and Stouffville District Secondary School's leadership class is very exited to be hosting the ride at their school.
"It will be a great way to have fun at the school and come together as a community to support a great cause!" Says Cuarlin Burnett, a student at SDSS.
On riding day sponsors will supply stationary bikes and equipment. Riders will then embark on an extraordinary two-hour indoor cycling challenge that is fun, safe, team-based and promotes volunteerism, physical activity, and challenges the teams of six to pedal their way to victory! All this with uplifting music and an energized room.
SDSS Leadership student Erin Babble shares "I am happy to be participating in the Inside Ride. It is a great cause and I know how much it can help a family with childhood cancer."
Teams are encouraged to fundraise prior to the event and 100% of the money raised goes to child cancer families. Last year the Inside Ride had a total of 118 events, 69 schools participated in the rides. The total of all schools raised $2.0M.
SDSS Students and Faculty are proud to say that they helped by raising a total of $20,000. This year SDSS students and faculty are exited to say that their goal is to double the amount raised last year!
Stay tuned as Stouffville Connects will be covering all the Fun and excitement from the event, as riders pedal their way to help this fabulous cause.
