JOANNE IANNUZZI, WARD 6

My name is Joanne Iannuzzi and I am running for Councillor Ward 6, Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville.  Ward 6 is the south side of Main Street, between 9th Line and Durham Road 30.

For Ward 6 residents, I will bring Consistent Representation at Council and Public Meetings, and be both accessible and visible within the community.  You're going to see me a lot.  I will meet with the neighbourhoods regularly, to discuss problems, concerns, issues and solutions.  This is a great way for everyone to make new friends, source business contacts, job opportunities and resolve issues in a timely fashion.  Bringing community together. You can't beat that.

I will also meet on a regular basis with merchants, local groups and residents, to form new initiatives aimed boosting Town spirit, morale and bringing more business into the downtown core.  Being a business owner myself, I know that everytime merchants open their shops, they are hoping for a really great day of business.  I intend to help them have a lot of really great days, and I think the Councillors on both sides of Main Street could have helped these merchants more all along.

Fiscal awareness and accountability means never forgetting you are dealing with the taxpayers money.  If you are going to spend it, waste it, or put it at risk - you'd better be able to explain yourself.  I am not adverse to borrowing, spending and building, as long as it is for something that we really need, as long as there is a sound plan, assurance that we will use the best materials, and that it will be supervised - so we we can get it right the first time.
